Cookies & analytics

This page explains exactly which cookies Ghost Creative sets, what they do, and how you stay in control.

What we use

We use Microsoft Clarity for session analytics and session replay — only after you consent via the cookie banner. Clarity shows us where the product is confusing so we can fix it. Everything you type into forms is masked and never recorded. With your analytics consent, your chats with Ghost are stored for 30 days so we can improve them.

If you consent, your usage data may be transferred to Microsoft servers in the United States. This transfer is safeguarded by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

Essential cookies — keeping you logged in, remembering your language, and storing your cookie choice — are always active. The site can't work without them, and they are not used for tracking.

If — and only if — you accept the Marketing category, we load the Meta (Facebook) pixel and send Meta a signal when you start a trial or buy. Your e-mail address is never sent in readable form: it is irreversibly hashed (SHA-256) first. Decline, and nothing from Meta is loaded at all.

The cookies in detail

_clckMicrosoft ClarityOnly with consent

Microsoft Clarity user identifier for session analytics and replay. Set only after you accept. Data may be transferred to the US (EU-US Data Privacy Framework + SCCs); form inputs are masked.

Duration: Up to 1 year

_clskMicrosoft ClarityOnly with consent

Microsoft Clarity session cookie — stitches the page views of one visit into a single session recording. Set only after you accept.

Duration: 1 day

NEXT_LOCALEGhost CreativeEssential

Remembers your language choice (English, German, Spanish) so the site loads in the right language.

Duration: 1 year

sb-*Ghost Creative (Supabase)Essential

Supabase authentication cookies that keep you securely logged in to your account.

Duration: Session — refreshed while you stay logged in

ghost_consentGhost CreativeEssential

Stores your cookie choice so we don't ask again on every visit.

Duration: 1 year

gc_refGhost CreativeEssential

Referral attribution: remembers whose referral link brought you here, so that when you subscribe to your first paid plan, both you and the person who referred you receive bonus credits. Only set when you open a referral link (?ref=...); HttpOnly; no cross-site tracking and never shared with third parties.

Duration: 60 days

_fbpMeta (Facebook)Only with consent

Meta (Facebook) browser identifier. Set only after you accept the Marketing category. It lets Meta connect an ad click to a signup or purchase, so we can tell whether an ad actually works.

Duration: 3 months

_fbcMeta (Facebook)Only with consent

Stores the Meta click identifier from an ad link (fbclid) so a signup or purchase can be matched to the ad that produced it. Set only after you accept the Marketing category.

Duration: 3 months

gc_utmGhost CreativeOnly with consent

Remembers the campaign labels (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) from the link you arrived on, so we know which campaign led to a signup. Set only after you accept the Marketing category. First-party, campaign names only — no personal data, no cross-site tracking — and deleted again when you withdraw.

Duration: 30 days

ghost_consent_marketingGhost CreativeEssential

Stores your Marketing choice separately from your analytics one, so a yes to one is never treated as a yes to the other.

Duration: 1 year

How to change your choice

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time — via the cookie settings option in the footer, or right here:

Withdrawal takes effect immediately: Clarity and the Meta pixel stop, and their cookies are deleted. Your login and language settings are not affected.
